Tim Beiko Announces ETH Merge Date in 2022: How the Events Unfolded?

Ethereum’s transition from Proof of Work to Proof of Stake has excited, intrigued, and even exasperated ETH’s strongest supporters. But there is some good news coming.

After beginning its transitional journey in December 2020 with the release of Beacon Chain, Ethereum Merge announcements have only flattered to deceive.

But in 2022, Vitalik Buterin and other Ethereum developers are not fooling around. In a conference call on Thursday, the devs offered a perpetual merger date.

Ethereum developer Tim Beiko proposed September 19 as the date for the much-awaited merger. Thankfully, no Ethereum developer opposed the date.

After the announcement, Ethereum developer superphiz.eth went on Twitter and clarified that the proposed date should be considered a reference point and not a strict deadline.

It has been almost one-and-a-half years since Phase 0 was launched in Dec 2020. It is worth noting that Phase 1 was delayed and was rescheduled for the 1st quarter of 2022.

Developers blamed the complexity of code audit as the main reason behind the delay of Phase 1. Ultimately, Sepolia testnet Beacon Chain went live in June 2022.

With the last trial of the Merge to take place on the Goerli network in the second week of August, we can expect the recently announced date to be the perfect starting point for the Merge.

Conclusion

ETH the merge date is a highly-anticipated event that has been awaited with bated breaths and heavy sighs. Whenever we see a delay in the proposed ETH 2.0 launch, someone somewhere in the world takes a heavy sigh and experiences dejection. But if we believe Tim Beiko’s words, the Merge will take place in September 2022. Although he has mentioned the date to be September 19, we will forgive them if the developers miss it by a day or two. After all, it has been a long time coming and also much-needed in the current situation when Ethereum has fallen well below its All-Time High.
